Kuwait City: Vigilant security personnel at Kuwait International Airport have foiled an attempt by a Pakistani passenger to smuggle 70 Kalashnikov bullets out of the country.
According to informed sources cited by Al-Rai, airport security staff became suspicious of the passenger while he was completing departure procedures to return to Pakistan with his wife. A thorough luggage inspection revealed the concealed ammunition inside one of his bags.
A case was immediately registered against him, and he was referred for investigation to determine his motives for possessing the bullets — which pose a clear threat to passenger and aircraft safety and are illegal under Kuwaiti law.
Sources added that the passenger tried to exploit the busy travel period to slip the bullets through unnoticed. However, strict adherence to inspection protocols and heightened vigilance by airport security officers ensured that the smuggling attempt was swiftly uncovered and thwarted.
