New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has returned to India after shortening his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia due to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Upon landing in Delhi, he immediately held an emergency meeting at the airport. The meeting was attended by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, among others.

The decision to return was taken after PM Modi’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Crown Prince strongly condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the incident, also offering assistance. This was confirmed by India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan.

The emergency cabinet committee meeting, led by the Prime Minister, will review the current security situation in the wake of the terror attack. Joint operations by the Indian Army and local police are underway in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir to track down those responsible.

The attack claimed the lives of 28 people, including Ramachandran, a native of Edappally in Kochi, who was on a family vacation. He was shot in front of his daughter by militants disguised in military uniforms. The Resistance Front has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case and is set to visit the attack site today. Ramachandran’s post-mortem procedures are expected to be completed today.
