Doha: The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) has announced a significant investment in Kardium, a leading healthcare innovator known for developing the Globe Pulsed Field System, an advanced solution for treating atrial fibrillation (AF).

In a recent statement, QIA confirmed that it participated in Kardium’s $250 million funding round, alongside new investors including Janus Henderson Investors, MM Capital, Piper Heartland Healthcare Capital, Eventide Asset Management, and Eckuity Capital. Existing backers such as T Rowe Price Associates, T Rowe Price Investment Management, and Durable Capital Partners LP also joined the round, together with a strategic equity investor.

The fresh capital will help Kardium secure regulatory approvals for its Globe System, expand manufacturing capabilities, and build a robust clinical support and commercial team ahead of its planned market launch later this year.

The Globe Pulsed Field System features a state-of-the-art catheter with a 122-electrode array and cutting-edge software, enabling rapid pulmonary vein isolation, precise high-definition mapping, and versatile ablation anywhere within the atrium — all using a single catheter.
