Kuwait’s Electricity Ministry Urges Power Conservation Amid Extreme Heat

Kuwait: With the country facing a severe heat wave, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has once again called on residents to conserve electricity, especially during peak hours, to ensure a stable and uninterrupted power supply.

In a message shared through the Sahl app, the ministry highlighted that rationalizing electricity consumption is a shared national responsibility that plays a vital role in maintaining the performance and stability of the country’s power grid.

Authorities are urging citizens and residents to minimize the use of high-energy appliances during peak periods and to adopt energy-efficient practices during this critical time. The ministry emphasized the importance of community-wide cooperation to prevent unnecessary stress on the electrical system.

As temperatures continue to rise, the electrical load index today recorded a significant 16,841 megawatts, coming close to the 17,000 megawatt mark — a level that could potentially strain the national grid if consumption isn’t curbed.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to providing reliable services and called on the public to act responsibly to support the national energy infrastructure during this high-demand period.
