Kuwait Bans Cash Transactions for Gold and Precious Metals Trade

  • 02/11/2025

Kuwait has officially banned the use of cash for buying and selling gold, precious stones, and metals. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued Ministerial Resolution No. 182 of 2025, which mandates that all companies in these sectors must conduct all payments through non-cash methods approved by the Central Bank of Kuwait.

The resolution requires businesses to use electronic payments for all contracts and transactions, completely eliminating cash dealings. Any establishment found violating this new regulation will face immediate closure and be referred to investigative authorities for legal action, in addition to other penalties stipulated by existing laws.
