In a major operation, Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs, in collaboration with the General Fire Force, foiled an attempt to smuggle 3,591 bottles of liquor concealed inside steel cable reels in a 20-foot container. The container, which arrived from abroad, was flagged for further inspection after customs officials grew suspicious of its declared contents.
A specialized fire force team assisted in carefully dismantling the cable reels, revealing the concealed bottles. Following the discovery, customs officials thoroughly examined the container to ensure there were no other illicit items onboard.
The case was referred to the General Department of Narcotics Control, which received detailed shipment data, including information on the sender and recipient. The recipient listed in the shipping documents has been arrested, and legal action is currently in progress.
This successful seizure highlights the Customs Department’s vigilance and commitment to countering sophisticated smuggling methods. Authorities reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing border security and preventing the inflow of illegal goods into the country.
