Abu Dhabi Police have issued a stern warning against parking on road shoulders after releasing dramatic video footage of serious accidents caused by this dangerous practice. The footage serves as a grim reminder that such errors can lead to fatal consequences.

Authorities emphasized that drivers should only stop on the shoulder in genuine emergencies and should immediately proceed to the nearest exit if possible. Key safety guidelines include:

  • Completely avoiding distractions while driving
  • Calling 999 for police assistance if a vehicle cannot be moved
  • Moving away from the vehicle to a safe location if it breaks down
  • Using hazard lights to warn other drivers in dangerous situations

The police also outlined penalties for violations, including a 500-dirham fine for remaining in a broken-down vehicle on the road and a 1,000-dirham fine with 6 traffic points for illegal parking. Authorities reiterated that reckless driving endangers both the driver and other road users, emphasizing that road safety must remain the highest priority.
