Kuwait’s 2024 Population Report Reveals Demographic and Workforce Insights

According to the latest data from the Public Authority for Civil Information, Kuwait’s total population as of December 31, 2024, was approximately 4,987,826. Of this, 1,567,983 were Kuwaiti citizens (31%) and 3,419,843 were non-Kuwaitis (69%).

Men dominate the overall population with 61% compared to 39% for women. However, within the Kuwaiti citizen population, women outnumber men—794,923 compared to 773,060—making up 51% of Kuwaiti citizens.

The Indian community remains the largest expatriate group in Kuwait, comprising 64% of the number of Kuwaitis, 29% of total expatriates, and 20% of the overall population. The Egyptian community follows closely, representing 42% of Kuwaitis, 19% of expatriates, and 13% of the total population. Together, Indians and Egyptians make up 38% of all expatriates, 106% of the total number of Kuwaiti citizens, and 33% of Kuwait's population.

The report also listed the most common names among Kuwaitis. Top male names include Mohammed, Abdullah, Ahmed, and Ali, while popular female names include Fatima, Maryam, Sarah, and Noura.

In terms of employment, the most common jobs for Kuwaiti citizens are government executive roles, military ranks, clerical work, teaching (especially religious and Arabic language), and accounting. Among non-Kuwaitis, the most frequent jobs are domestic work, private driving, general labor, janitorial work, waitering, and warehouse operations.
