The Embassy of India in Kuwait, in partnership with UN Habitat, organized a tree plantation drive at Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Natural Reserve as part of the ‘Plant for Mother’ campaign. The initiative aims to promote environmental protection and sustainability by encouraging individuals to plant trees in tribute to their mothers.

The event witnessed the participation of Governor of Jahra, H.E. Hamad Jassim Al-Habashi, along with ambassadors from several countries, representatives from the media, and members of the Indian community in Kuwait. Participants planted native saplings including Rhanterium epapposum, Calligonum comosum, and Acacia gerrardii, and placed placards bearing the names of their mothers next to the plants.

The 'Plant for Mother' campaign was originally launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on World Environment Day 2024, encouraging people across the world to plant trees in honor of their mothers. The campaign has received widespread global support with over 1.4 billion saplings planted to date.

This plantation drive in Kuwait reflects the campaign’s growing international impact and highlights a shared global commitment to environmental sustainability and honoring the nurturing spirit of motherhood through green action.
