Makkah: Chanting “Labbaykallahumma labbayk…”, thousands of Hajj pilgrims from across the globe have started arriving in Mina, the symbolic city of tents, in preparation for the key rituals of Hajj. This spiritual journey marks the beginning of the most sacred phase of the pilgrimage.
On Wednesday, pilgrims poured into Mina on the Day of Tarwiyah, a day reserved for prayer and spiritual reflection. No specific rituals are performed today, but it serves as a critical phase of preparation for the gathering at Arafat tomorrow. Pilgrims are staying in Mina to perform the Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr prayers in congregation.
Indian pilgrims are among the many who began their journey early, following schedules and guidelines set by the Indian Hajj Mission to manage the crowd and ensure safety. The sacred valley of Mina, now a sea of white-clad worshippers, reverberates with unity, devotion, and supplication.
Tomorrow, after the Fajr prayer, pilgrims will proceed to Arafat, located about 16 kilometers from Makkah, for the central ritual of Hajj. They will remain in Arafat until sunset in deep prayer and remembrance. Afterward, they will travel to Muzdalifah to spend the night under the open sky and continue to Mina on Friday for the symbolic stoning at Jamrat al-Aqba, followed by the sacrificial ritual, hair-cutting, and Eid celebrations.
The final phases include performing Tawaf and Sa’i at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and returning to Mina for three more days to complete the pilgrimage.
