Qatar’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has issued a stern warning to commercial establishments against harassing or following pedestrians, citing violations of Article 18 of Law No. (5) of 2015 on public shops and street vendors. The ministry emphasized that such behavior disrupts public order and violates consumer rights, and offenders will face legal action and temporary closure for 15 days.
The ministry confirmed that several establishments have already been shut down for these violations, as part of an intensified inspection campaign to ensure businesses operate within the legal framework. Shop owners and operators are urged to strictly adhere to guidelines to avoid penalties.
Additionally, MoCI reiterated its commitment to enforcing Circular No. (1) of 2025, which mandates greater transparency in advertising. For example, car dealerships must install electronic price displays for spare parts and maintenance services, ensuring customers have clear and accessible information.
These measures are part of Qatar’s broader efforts to protect public safety, enhance consumer rights, and maintain a fair business environment. The ministry continues to conduct awareness and inspection drives to promote compliance and uphold ethical commercial practices across the country.
