Dubai Mallathon Turns Malls into Summer Fitness Tracks for All

Dubai: In a bid to keep residents active during the hot summer months, Dubai has unveiled the Dubai Mallathon, a city-wide fitness initiative transforming seven of the city’s busiest malls into indoor walking and running tracks for an entire month.

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Mallathon will run daily from August 1 to 31. Organized in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council and supported by the Ministry of Defense, the program invites residents and tourists to walk or jog inside air-conditioned malls between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM every day.

Participating shopping centers include Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai Marina Mall.

Aligned with the Year of Community, the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 33, the initiative aims to embed healthy habits into daily routines and make wellness more accessible for all age groups.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the goal is to reimagine familiar spaces as welcoming hubs for movement, encouraging everyone—from seniors and children to mall staff—to stay active in a safe, comfortable environment.

Each mall will feature clearly marked walking and running tracks, zones for kids’ activities, health awareness booths, guided warm-up and stretching sessions, and fitness tracking systems. Registration is free and participants can sign up through the official website to receive a digital pass.

Restaurants and retailers inside the malls will join the effort by offering special deals on healthy meals and wellness products to support participants’ health goals.

The program also includes the Walk for Better Health initiative, a partnership with the Community Development Authority, adding further community engagement and family-friendly elements.

With outdoor exercise often impractical during Dubai’s peak summer heat, the Mallathon provides a unique way for people to maintain an active lifestyle indoors, supporting Dubai’s vision to become the world’s best place to live, work, and visit.

Sheikh Hamdan summed up the spirit of the initiative: “Every step you take moves us closer to a healthier Dubai. This is a shared journey—one that connects us all in building an active, vibrant city.”
