Kuwait City: In a major crackdown on human trafficking and illegal visa trading, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has arrested a Kuwaiti citizen who misused his position to profit by illegally selling work visas.

The General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations revealed that the accused, authorized to sign for 25 companies and four related businesses, used these companies to register foreign workers who never actually worked for them. Instead, he sold work visas for cash, charging between KD 350 and KD 1,200 per permit through two middlemen — one Syrian and one Indian.

Officials found that 56 workers were registered under these shell companies, including several who violated residency rules or were working for employers who were not their official sponsors. When questioned, the main suspect admitted to the illegal scheme.

All three suspects have been handed over to the relevant authorities for legal action. The Ministry has reaffirmed its commitment to stamp out human trafficking networks and urged the public to report any suspicious visa or residency violations to protect Kuwait’s security and society.
