Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s population has crossed 35 million for the first time, marking a major milestone in the Kingdom’s demographic and economic growth story.

According to the latest figures released by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), the total population at the end of 2024 reached 35.3 million people. Of this, 55.6% (around 19.6 million) are Saudi citizens, while expatriates account for 44.4% (about 15.6 million).

The report also highlights how the Kingdom’s population is distributed by gender and age:

  • 62.1% of the total population is male, and 37.9% is female.
  • Children under 14 make up 22.5% (7.94 million).
  • Adults aged 15 to 64 account for 74.7% (26.37 million).
  • Seniors aged 65 and above make up 2.8% (about 988,000).

Saudi Arabia’s population has grown significantly over the past decade and a half. In 2010, the total population was just under 24 million. Since then, steady economic development, job opportunities, and major national projects have attracted millions of expatriates to live and work in the Kingdom.
