Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health has launched the ‘First Responder Fleet’ project to strengthen access to emergency medical services and provide immediate life-saving care during critical situations.

At the launch ceremony, Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi highlighted that this initiative aligns with Kuwait’s national health vision to improve readiness, reduce complications, and deliver faster, more effective emergency response.

The fleet comprises 28 specially equipped vehicles, each staffed by trained emergency medical technicians and paramedics qualified in basic and advanced life support. These vehicles are deployed based on criteria like population density and service needs, with continuous updates to maintain peak efficiency.

Each vehicle carries advanced resuscitation equipment, oxygen, ventilators, essential medications, and trauma stabilization tools. The response process starts with a central call to dispatch the nearest unit, which then assesses the patient on-site and delivers urgent care until further help or transport arrives.

Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Support Services Dr. Abdullah Al-Fars explained that the new fleet will play a key role in providing immediate intervention during major incidents, helping triage cases and optimize resources.

Nasser Al-Khadher from the General Secretariat of Endowments stressed the importance of community donors in supporting such initiatives through the Health Care Endowment Fund, which helps advance national health services in line with Kuwait’s development goals.
