Kuwait City: A Pakistani doctor and his wife were arrested at Kuwait International Airport Terminal 4 after security officers discovered 64 live AK-47 bullets hidden in their luggage. The incident came to light during a routine baggage scan as the couple prepared to board a flight to Pakistan.

Sources revealed that the X-ray machines flagged suspicious items, leading inspectors to find the Kalashnikov ammunition stashed inside one of the bags. The husband, who confessed during questioning, admitted to hiding the bullets in his wife’s suitcase without her knowledge, pleading for her release and offering to take full responsibility. However, authorities rejected his request and referred both to the Weapons Investigation Department.

A criminal case has been registered, and the couple remains in custody while investigators probe whether the ammunition was linked to any wider criminal network. The incident underscores the vigilance of airport security staff, who managed to thwart the smuggling attempt despite heavy passenger traffic.

Officials reiterated that smuggling military-grade ammunition is a serious offense under Kuwaiti law and poses a direct threat to aviation security. Further investigations are ongoing to determine if any accomplices were involved.
