Liwa Date Festival 2025 Returns with Competitions, Cultural Events, and Over $2.36 Million in Prizes

The 21st Liwa Date Festival will take place from July 14 to 27 in Liwa City, Al Dhafra Region, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, the festival celebrates the UAE’s rich agricultural heritage and showcases the vital role of date palms in Emirati culture.

This year’s edition features 24 competitions, including date variety contests, fruit competitions, and unique creative categories such as the Most Beautiful Palm Frond Basket. The event will distribute more than AED 8.735 million ($2.37 million) in prizes across various categories. Highlights include the Dabbas and Khalas categories with top prizes of AED 100,000 ($27,230) each, and the Elite Dates Competitions in Al Dhafra and Liwa offering up to AED 200,000 ($54,461) for winners.

Visitors can also enjoy a vibrant program of cultural performances, traditional market stalls, educational activities, and exhibitions celebrating the UAE’s agricultural legacy. The festival supports local farmers, promotes sustainability, and serves as a key platform for cultural exchange, community engagement, and economic growth.
