Saudi Airports Advise Passengers Amid Airspace Closures Following Israel-Iran Conflict

Riyadh: In response to the closure of airspace in parts of the Middle East following Israel’s airstrikes on military sites in Iran, major airports across Saudi Arabia have issued advisories to passengers to verify their flight status before traveling to the airport.

Airports including King Khalid International Airport (Riyadh), King Abdulaziz International Airport (Jeddah), King Fahd International Airport (Dammam), and Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport (Madinah) have posted alerts on their official channels. Travelers are urged to contact their airlines directly to confirm any changes, cancellations, or delays to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.

“Given the current developments in some countries in the region, passengers on flights operating to or through affected airspace are advised to check updated flight information,” airport officials stated on social media.

Several Middle Eastern countries closed parts of their airspace early Friday following Israel’s strikes, forcing airlines to cancel or reroute flights, causing significant travel disruptions, longer routes, and extended waiting times for passengers.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier condemned Israel’s actions, calling the attacks a violation of Iran’s sovereignty and international law. The ministry also urged the UN Security Council to act swiftly to halt the attacks and prevent further escalation.

The travel advisories are part of precautionary measures to protect passenger safety and manage air traffic effectively amid heightened regional tensions. Passengers are strongly encouraged to stay informed through official airport websites and airline updates before heading to the airport.
