Kuwait's Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources is planning to install surveillance cameras in public parks across the country as part of a broader initiative to enhance security and safety. The project, which is currently awaiting budget approval, is slated for implementation within the next year. The primary goal is to monitor visitor behavior, prevent vandalism, and stop other inappropriate actions that damage public property.
This decision follows the notable success of a pilot project that installed cameras on Shuwaikh Beach, which significantly reduced incidents of vandalism and improved overall cleanliness. Authorities cited increasing complaints from maintenance companies about damage to facilities, including cut trees and broken restrooms and sprinklers, as a key reason for expanding the surveillance program. The camera system is seen as a crucial tool to encourage public discipline and protect the investments in these green spaces.
In addition to the security measures, the authority is also moving forward with several development projects aimed at expanding green spaces in new residential areas like Sabah Al-Ahmad City and Jaber Al-Ahmad City. These efforts are part of a comprehensive strategy to not only protect existing parks but also to enhance and beautify the country's public garden infrastructure for all residents.
