The heritage marine racing season will commence with the Abu Al Abyad 60ft Dhow Sailing Race on September 20 and 21. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, the event is a cornerstone of the UAE's efforts to sustain its traditional sports.

This year's race features strong competition, with over 90 dhows registered to sail the 20-nautical-mile course. The event brings together hundreds of sailors, highlighting the community's deep connection to its seafaring history.

To encourage widespread participation, a substantial prize fund of AED 4.238 million will be awarded, with prizes extending to the top 90 finishers. This incentive is designed to motivate sailors and reinforce the importance of this cultural tradition.

As a highly anticipated event, the race exemplifies the UAE's strategy of preserving its national identity by celebrating its maritime past. The combination of competitive racing, significant rewards, and elite patronage ensures the 2025 edition will be a vibrant and successful start to the championship calendar.
