Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has accelerated its internal road development program across key residential and industrial areas, comprising 103 kilometers of road infrastructure. The projects include completed works in Al Khawaneej 2 and Jebel Ali Industrial Area 1, along with ongoing construction in six additional areas: Nad Al Sheba 1, 3, and 4, Al Awir 1, Wadi Al Amardi, and Al Warqa'a.
Director General Mattar Al Tayer has stated that these initiatives respond to leadership directives to enhance infrastructure supporting Dubai's urban growth. The completed Al Khawaneej 2 project features six kilometers of roads, 765 parking spaces, and dedicated cycling tracks, while Jebel Ali Industrial Area's upgrade included 27 kilometers of roads and seven new roundabouts to improve heavy vehicle traffic flow.
Current projects include Al Awir 1's 16.5-kilometer road network featuring a new 7.5-kilometer connection to Emirates Road that will double the area's capacity to 3,000 vehicles per hour. The Nad Al Sheba developments encompass 32 kilometers of roads with pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, while Al Warqa'a improvements will reduce travel times from 20 minutes to 3.5 minutes for 350,000 residents. Wadi Al Amardi's 15-kilometer project will serve 30,000 residents and reduce travel distances from 5km to 1km upon completion in 2026.
