Kuwait cracks down on residency and work permit fraud networks

Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has intensified its campaign against residency and labor violations, resulting in the dismantling of a criminal network involved in forging work permits for Egyptian workers. The operation led to the arrest of eight individuals, including a Kuwaiti government employee who served as acting director at the Public Authority for Manpower, six Egyptian nationals, and one Syrian national.

The network operated by falsifying work permit applications for commercial companies in exchange for bribes ranging from 130 to 250 Kuwaiti dinars per transaction. Investigations revealed that the government employee provided valid transactions to an intermediary, who then collaborated with a printing press worker to forge documents and upload them through the government's "Sahl" program for a fee of five dinars per forged transaction.

The Ministry emphasized that the law applies equally to all violators, whether Kuwaiti or non-Kuwaiti, young or old. All defendants have admitted their involvement in the fraudulent scheme and have been referred to public prosecution for further legal action. The case represents one of many recent successes in Kuwait's broader campaign against residency and labor fraud.

These enforcement actions demonstrate Kuwait's commitment to combating administrative corruption and protecting the integrity of its labor market. The Ministry has warned that it will show no tolerance for any attempts to exploit government systems or harm Kuwait's national interests through illegal practices.
