UAE Warns Residents Against Fraudulent Calls Targeting Personal Data

  • 29/08/2025

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) has issued a public warning urging residents to avoid phone calls from unknown numbers, which may be fraudulent attempts to steal personal data. In a social media advisory, the ministry emphasized that scammers often pose as official entities to phish for sensitive details like residency, visa, passport, and banking information.

MoHRE clarified that these calls are designed to deceive individuals into divulging confidential data, including bank account numbers and transaction codes. The ministry advised residents to verify caller identities and refrain from sharing any personal information over the phone unless the source is authenticated.

To combat such scams, MoHRE encouraged the public to report suspicious calls or activities immediately via its hotline (600590000) or email (ask@mohre.gov.ae). Proactive reporting helps authorities track and mitigate phishing operations targeting UAE residents.

This alert aligns with the UAE’s broader efforts to enhance cybersecurity and public awareness against digital fraud. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and prioritize data protection to safeguard themselves from evolving phishing tactics and identity theft schemes.
