Saudi Arabia has recorded a substantial increase in pilgrims arriving in Medina, with 6.45 million visitors in the first quarter of 2025—4.4 million of whom were international pilgrims. Authorities have expanded services at the Prophet’s Mosque and across the city to accommodate the growing numbers, ensuring efficient transportation, guidance, and catering for a smooth spiritual journey.

The General Authority for the Prophet’s Mosque and the Grand Mosque, in collaboration with multiple agencies, has implemented a comprehensive service system within the mosque and its courtyards. These efforts focus on enhancing the pilgrim experience through improved facilities, historic site preservation, and logistical support, allowing visitors to explore Medina’s revered mosques and landmarks with ease.

Pilgrims typically visit Medina after completing Umrah in Mecca, engaging in prayers at the Prophet’s Mosque and touring significant historical sites. The surge in visitors reflects Medina’s enduring spiritual appeal and Saudi Arabia’s commitment to serving believers from around the world.

The government reiterated its dedication to elevating service standards in Medina, aligning with broader initiatives to enrich the religious and cultural experience for all pilgrims. This ongoing investment in infrastructure and hospitality underscores Saudi Arabia’s role as a custodian of Islamic holy sites and a facilitator of global pilgrimage.
