UAE Space Agency Launches SMSE Program to Train Future Emirati Space Leaders

The UAE Space Agency has announced the launch of the Space Mission and Satellite Engineering (SMSE) Program under its National Space Academy, in collaboration with EDGE and its subsidiaries FADA and BEACON RED. This initiative aims to equip UAE nationals with the technical and leadership skills needed to drive the nation’s space exploration goals.

Running from September 16 to November 20, 2025, the program offers an immersive learning experience that combines classroom sessions, lab work, and industry visits. It will be held at locations in Abu Dhabi, including the UAE Space Agency HQ, BEACON RED’s training center, and FADA’s engineering facilities.

Participants will explore five specialized areas:

Designing Space Missions

Applied Space Systems Engineering

Verification and Validation of Space Systems

Mission Operations

A Capstone Project simulating a satellite mission

The initiative supports the UAE’s long-term goal of creating a sustainable, Emirati-led space industry.
Director General Eng. Salem Al Qubaisi emphasized the importance of empowering local talent to lead future space missions.
Al Waleid Al Mesmari of EDGE Group reiterated their dedication to developing high-tech expertise within the country.

Open only to UAE nationals in relevant sectors or STEM graduates, the program encourages early-career professionals to apply before August 25, 2025. Selected participants will gain real-world training with expert mentors and access to cutting-edge tools.

Together, the UAE Space Agency and EDGE aim to build a strong foundation for a self-reliant and advanced national space ecosystem.
