Dubai Tops Social Media as World's Most Popular Travel Destination

Dubai has been crowned the most popular travel destination on social media, according to a study by travel company Travelbag. The city garnered over 143 million Instagram hashtags and more than 40 million TikTok posts, putting it far ahead of other destinations worldwide.

Known for iconic attractions like the Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah, and its luxurious desert resorts, Dubai continues to lead online travel trends. The city boasts 67 million more Instagram hashtags than the runner-up, Bali.

Bali placed second with 75.7 million hashtags and 8.6 million TikTok posts, thanks to its scenic rice terraces, beach spots in Seminyak, and temples in Ubud. Tokyo followed in third place, with 68.9 million Instagram hashtags and 4.4 million TikTok posts, known for its vibrant nightlife, culinary delights, and cultural landmarks like Senso-ji Temple.

Sheryl Drane, a Dubai expert from Travelbag, encouraged travelers to explore beyond Dubai’s famous sites. She recommended hidden gems like the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, Love Lake, and Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, a birdwatcher’s paradise.

She also suggested visiting Dubai during the cooler shoulder seasons (October–November and February–March) and concluded by highlighting the magic of a private desert camp, calling it “an elegant contrast to Dubai’s vibrant skyline.”
