Apple has announced its annual product event scheduled for September 9 at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, where the company will unveil the iPhone 17 lineup featuring the thinnest iPhone design to date. The new lineup is expected to include standard, Pro, and Pro Max models along with a new iPhone Air variant, marketed as "awe-dropping" and drawing design inspiration from Apple's slim MacBook laptops.

Alongside the iPhone announcement, Apple plans to introduce the Apple Watch Series 11 and updated AirPods rumored to feature live translation capabilities, matching functionality already available in Google's Pixel Buds. The event will also reveal launch dates for iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe operating systems. The product launches face potential challenges from proposed US tariffs that could affect pricing, though CEO Tim Cook has mitigated this risk by shifting some production to India and pre-shipping inventory.

The event gains significance as investors watch for developments in Apple Intelligence, the company's generative AI suite launched in 2024, and potential integration of Google's Gemini AI models into Siri. Wall Street analysts have noted Apple's lag behind competitors in AI innovation, adding pressure for meaningful AI announcements alongside the hardware reveals.
